Learning never stops
One would think school is over after years of agony and suffering through primary school, high school and collage. However it does not stop there :-(

I want to be a part of itWell in parts it is true, but maybe I should quote another of his songs:
New York, New York
And now, the end is nearAfter 8 years, I am moving on and leaving ... no not for New York, but certainly visiting New York more often :-)
And so I face the final curtain
Let's see what new opportunities and perks this new job brings.

Told you so, cool things and more
It has been a long time since my last post and much has happened. But first of all I would like to say:
TOLD YOU SO!!! To me, not a surprise to at all.
I have been spending money like a mad dog on bike (stuff), so now I am a happy owner of the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt and I have to say I am very pleasantly surprised. Of course I got the bundle with the Tickr heart rate monitor, RPM speed sensor and the RPM cadence sensor and they work well together ... DUH!
In addition I got an account with RideWithGPS to track my rides and create/upload routes.
The two complement each other very well. I just create a nice route on NederlandFietsland export the GPX data. Import the GPX file with RWGPS, Then I modify the route a bit and make a quesheet.
Saved routes are automatically uploaded to the Bolt when you turn it on, so select the route and bike to your heart's content. When you finished riding, stop the ride on the Bolt and it will be automatically uploaded to RWGPS.
You may or may not have noticed, but you can track my cycle-madness in the Widget on the right hand side.
Winter is coming, so I dug up the good old Taxc Bushido Smart and tested it with the Wahoo Elemnt Bolt as rumor has it, you can connect the Bushido Smart with the Bolt. Lo and behold: The Bolt recognized new devices and I was able to connect the Bolt. Not only can you record cadence, speed, distance and power, but also can you somewhat control the resistance of the Bushido. Granted not as fine-grained and sophisticated as with the native Taxc app, but still, how awesome is that?!!
Enough of this free advertising.
On a sad note, Oma passed away this year
So as with Opa, I made a little video to commemorate her. You can watch the video here Enjoy the video and think of the fun times you had with Oma.

Bye bye AB!
I've been using AB the last 4 years and even within that short period I noticed their service going down from okay to bad.
First time I got a nice wrap during a 4h flight and plenty of beverages. That got changed to a pretzel and 1 glass of soda pop and when lucky a coffee or tea the next time around.
With your purchased meal you'll get a glass of water, again when your are lucky.
Other things that are just shitty service and not a coincidence as it happened more often:
I pre-ordered meals on both flights to and from the destination. Twice it happened that the flight crew was oblivious to me pre-order on the way back. The crew asking me whether I had a print-out of the pre-order ... WTF!!!!!
The end result: They did not have the pre-ordered meal on-board. Of cource I could pick something they had available or ask for my money back.
One time I purchased additional "service" like pre-boarding and fast-track through security at the airport. Lo and behold, the security officer pointed me to the regular queue and at the gate pre-boarding was not announced. .... WFT!!!!
So pricing-wise I don't consider AB some budget airline like EJ or RA, but they are definitely no KLM or LH, yet almost as expensive.
I could go on about little things that are wrong thinking of my experience with AB, but rest assured, hence forward I will try to avoid AB even if it costs a penny more, even if it means having to deal with a stop-over rather than a non-stop flight!
